How I became a fan.

As a little kid, I was lucky to witness 2 Patriots Super Bowls and 2 Red Sox World Series win(don't remember 01). Today I'm a 17 year old, about to be a junior in high school, and I'll never forget those years. Vinatieri's kick in Super Bowl XXXVII, Ty Law picking off Peyton Manning 3 times in the AFC Title Game, Varitek punching A-Rod and the ALCS comeback. The first NBA Finals I watched was Spurs-Pistons and I remember asking my parents "Why can't the Celtics be here? The Pats and Sox have been?". I didn't watch pro basketball again until the heartbreaking defeat in the 07 AFC title game and the absence of the Red Sox made me want to watch a new sport. I began to watch the Celtics. They sucked. No other way to say it. They flat out SUCKED. I loved college basketball and knew what the stakes were lottery night in May 2007(I still was hooked on the League even though baseball had started and the Patriots had traded for Randy Moss). When the #5 card was flipped up and the Celtics logo was on it, I was crushed. I gave up on basketball. I said the Sox were all I needed. Things changed a month later. I begrudgingly watched the draft and when I saw that Boston and Seattle had made a trade, I immediately thought "Durante! We're getting Kevin Durante!" Nope. Somebody else. Ray Allen, the UConn graduate(I love UConn hoops). I got excited again, maybe now the Celtics could trade for my favorite player ever; that's right, the Big Ticket, Kevin Garnett. And they did. And I was thrilled. Fast forward to February, 08. My beloved, unbeatable Patriots had just lost the Super Bowl to the family I hate the most in the city I hate the most. I came down with mono. The Celtics were on a 3 game losing streak either going into or coming out of the All star break. But I kept watching. I kept watching because I finally got an NBA to root for and care about. Just having that was enough. And as I grew older, the Celtics did too. I watched Paul Pierce duel LeBron James. I watched the wheelchair play. I watched the 24 point comeback. I watched the complete domination of the Fake show to win the title and I watched KG scream Anything's Possible! At the top of his lungs. I watched the 09 team get out to a huge start. I watched KG go down in Utah. I watched Ray Ray go off for 51 against the Bulls in that classic series. I watched the team everybody counted out, including myself, dominate Wade, LeBron, Dwight and Kobe(in 5 games :( ).I cried with the rest of us after Game 7. I watched in 2011 as the world expected us to do it again against the "(Fake)Big Three" of South Beach. I watched Pierce and KG hit those clutch shots against the Knicks, and Amare miss his, and then I watched us sweep them. I was upset about Perkins, and Wade breaking Rondo's arm and all of that. I finally got what I had craved for 6 years ago. Memories. And this year, when EVERYBODY(including myself) counted them out, they came through. They showed fight and courage and passion and I'll never forget it. I want the Big Three all back. It's 50/50 at this point in my opinion, that they'll all be back. But no matter what happens from here on, thanks guys. I grew up with you. And you free up with me.

Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.
