At ~11:37 of the 4th quarter of Finals game 5, Monty McCutchen, referee #13, ran near Erik Spoelstra standing by the sideline, immediately after Mike Miller hit his sixth and penultimate three. The crowd was going wild, and no wonder: that shot put the Heat up by 27. As he passed Spo, McCutchen lifted his hand and slapped Spoelstra's hand in a "high-five" kind of move. I reviewed it several times to be sure it really happened. It really happened. (See for yourself, below.)
So I'm wondering why an NBA referee would -- right in the middle of a playoff game -- congratulate one of the coaches with that kind of gesture. It was the kind of thing you'd expect from a Heat TEAM MEMBER.... high-fiving each other after a great play.
But from a referee? Who's calling the game?? What was that about?
