The Celtics should really look deep into this NBA Draft and the free agency. No luck for Doc Rivers going to be able to coach his son Austin Rivers but alot of great names are popping up here and there in the draft. The Celtics hold the 21 and 22 spot in the draft. And what they need is some good front court help, with Kevin Garnett and Jermaine O'Neal most likely gone to another team and considering retirement, why not go ahead and draft Royce White, the forward from Iowa State? White is a 6'8 forward 261 pounds with a wingspan of 7'0. He averaged 13.4 points per game for Iowa State, 5.0 assist and 9.3 rebounds. His game to me is compared to Pau Gasol but much stronger than Gasol. White is an excellent passer at his height and he's a good rebounder.
The Celtics can also try to draft Fab Melo, the 22 year old 7'0 255 pounds center from Syracuse. I question Melo's offensive game, only averaging 7.8 points in 25 minutes. But his defensive game is off the charts averaging 2.9 blocks per game and 5.8 rebounds. Melo to me is another Hasheem Thabeet, Offensively needs some work but defense is on lock.
Now the Free Agency, The Celtics are losing Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen most likely. So here are some free agents the Celtics can chase after:
Anthony Randolph- I'm not to thrilled about Anthony Randolph's game since you sometimes ever hear about him. But if its what Celtic fans want, then its most likely what Celtics fan will get. Randolph would fill in Garnett's spot if he does not return and provide Rajon Rondo with some front court help.
J.J Hickson- J.J Hickson has proven himself worthy of being a future All-Star in this league, why not bring his talents to the Celtics? Hickson is talented scorer for his position. He didn't showcase his talents in Sacramento but he brought his skills to Portland and just set off an atomic scoring bomb. I predict he will do the same for the Celtics.
Shannon Brown- For some reason, I like the idea of Shannon Brown coming to Boston. More athletic ability Boston to start for Ray Allen if he does not return. I expect that Brown's offensive ability is becoming more and more intense by the second. He can put up alot of points like he did for Phoenix and Los Angeles.
