This is squarely on Danny Ainge! I think it is pathetic that so many of you are willing to call Ray Allen all sorts of names because he chose to finally have some semblance of control in his career & destiny, yet the constant trade rumours and chaos that Danny created with his insecure and inept management seems to fly with such great velocity over your collective heads. However obscene the market place is for basketball players, simply being paid millions does not mean you have the right to treat athletes as mere “pieces”.
They are still human beings. And Allen was nothing but the consummate professional during his tenure. I think it is funny how organisations expect the utmost in loyalty which is rooted in emotions and sentiment, yet are so swift to cull upon “professionalism” when they fail to show some reciprocity to that end.
And Danny boy was short sighted. His sudden turn about came from witnessing the Spurs modus operandi, which is to surround your aging fleet of superstars with young, athletic, and talented players. Once he was shown the blue print, he no longer felt like he had to deride the original Big 3, and justify his tenure with threats of trades and promises of never making the mistake the Celtics of yesteryear had committed with Bird and his ilk.
Thus I for one will not vilify him. Rather I will celebrate his time with the Celtics and wish him well. I will wish the Celtics more.
