Hello Fans From The Philippines!

Since the early days of this blog, I've casually watched the stats and demographics and often noticed that we have fans and followers from the Philippines. It was really highlighted when we did the "Calling Out Lurkers" post and heard from many of you from there. Just now I happened to be looking at our Facebook Page stats, and I think you'll see what stood out to me.

Don't get me wrong, I'm loving the love. I also appreciate every fan and reader from every corner of the world. I'm just really curious now. What is the deal? How did the Celtics (and apparently CelticsBlog) get to be so big there?

Was there some player that I can't think of that had ties there? Does it trace its roots back to the Dream Team or earlier to the Bird-Magic days? Or is this a recent phenomenon? If so, why the Celtics and not the Heat, Bulls, Lakers, or any other team?

I have to admit ignorance as I've never had the pleasure of visiting and know next to nothing about the Philippines other than to say that everyone I've met from there has seemed exceedingly genuine and pleasant.

So please tell us your story and help me shed some light on this if you would be so kind.

(Oh, and if you are a fan from another country, get the word out and give these guys a run! Looking at you UK!)
