GMs and coaches love to use words like intangibles, veteran presence, great locker room presence
But are these signings taking up valuable roster spots, just because these intangible players are picked up cheap.
I want to give danny ainge credit, he did a great with most of his signings this summer
Here are the three players that i believe fall into that intangible category
Before you get defensive, let's look at each player
Jason Collins, probably the biggest intangible signing of the summer
Jason is not a scorer, does not rebound well, does not block shots
Jason does play some defense, he's 7 ft tall, comes cheap and eats up minutes
So KG gets a break, a major downgrade from Stiemsma
And Jason will take minutes from Melo, even with Melo's inexperience
Melo will give Celts more production (Rebs and shot blocking) then Collins
Chris Wilcox has low basketball IQ, limited offensive, below average rebounder
But comes cheap and rondo will make him look good in transition
Wilcox will takes minutes from Sully. Overall Wilcox is a cheap big but Ainge only gave him 1 yr deal
Lastly Dooling
Keyon is a hustler and streak shooter, not a good playermaker
While I like his harassing defensive play, faster guards blow by him with ease
And he gets caught on every screen. Overall not a bad signing because it was cheap,
But I would have had Keyon come into trainIng camp to compete with jamar smith and dionte christmas
To earn a roster spot, Rondo does not need Keyon's veteran presence
Overall I think these three signings were dannys worst this summer
