Although we loved what Ray gave us on the floor, I think we particularly was loved for the professionalism and team spirit that he embodied that is now giving us a moment of pause. The way this all went down does leave the whole ubuntu for him and the Celtics in a state of, well, fairy tale, that we all in society want to believe in. The truth once again is a heavy dose of ego and narcissistic behavior still floating around.
The fact is after five year of waiting we finally have that guard we had been looking for in the form of Eddie House, Stephen Marbury, and Nate Robinson wrapped up one player at a "higher level". On top of all that Jason Terry is fearless with an edge with the winning and championship pedigree to back it all up.
He can shoot the trey, has an excellent mid-range, can take it to the hoop, and is comfortable with himself. And yes, he can hit free throws. He too has something to prove; Dallas did to him worse that what the Celtics did with Ray Allen.
Yes, we will miss the "idea" of what Ray Allen stood for but Jason Terry is going to give us three years of a value when all the hugs and tears come from our reconciliation with Allen (after we beat them in the playoffs) we will all be able to move on.
Remember, we eventually forgave Bill Buckner !!!!!
