There has been a lot of chat on Ray Allen's departure... team motivations... his motivations. Discussion of exerting revenge on the Celtics as one writer put it. To take a pay cut for the Heat really speaks to motivations. This is a business... a business where winning matters.. Ray's productivity really did not warrant the $12M Boston (for 2 years) offered or even $9M Miami (for 3 years) scrounged together for him... This year Ray was the 4th leading scorer on the Celtics in the Playoffs... Last 2 years he was second. He was a non-factor in many games and was outplayed by Avery Bradley in multiple playoff series. He did great in Boston but as many put it here... Snatching OJ Mayo would be tremendous. Sad to see Ray go but $12M could be used on better talent... Speaks volumes for an organization willing to pay that kind of money for a guy averaging barely 10pts per game and the 4th leading scorer on a team. At the end of the day... Who was more loyal to whom? I think the organization offer speaks for itself.
