Like every Celtics fan out there, we here at CelticsBlog wanted to extend our well wishes to legendary Bill Russell as he rests in his Seattle home. According to Peter Vecsey, #6 had to cancel an appearance in Long Island yesterday and today as he recovers from two heart procedures over the last month. He was scheduled to appear at the 2nd annual MENTOR's Champions Golf Challenge benefiting MENTOR, a youth mentoring organization with whom Russell has been a founding board member for the last twenty years. According to a press release, NBA greats John Havlicek, Clyde Drexler, Sam Jones, Rick Barry, George Gervin, Artis Gilmore and Bruce Bowen are supposed to appear. If you're interested in the program, you can find more information at www.mentoring.org.
