Melo was in Waltham yesterday with the team and it sounds like he's healthy. He'll rack up mileage this month between Maine and Boston as the Celtics enjoy a home-heavy schedule this month.
The Boston Celtics announced today that they have assigned center Fab Melo to their NBA Development League affiliate, the Maine Red Claws.

With the Celtics playing the next seven out of ten games in January at the Garden and the Maine Red Claws playing eight games either in Portland or on the road in Springfield, it makes perfect sense to send Fab down to the minors this month. I wouldn't be surprised if he suits up as the 13th man for a couple games in Boston; with Wilcox and Collins dealing with injuries, his size on the bench might be needed.
