Did Danny Ainges and Doc Rivers believe that the core of Pierce and Garnett with Rondo could compete with progressing teams forever without Boston finding new upcoming talent to replace Pierce and Garnett ? From the time the C's won their last championship it was time then to find some youthful replacements for the Celtics stars who were already at the topend of their careers. But Ainges kept adding old pieces to aging stars. So from the time they won the championship till now Boston hasn't found 1 youthful star to add to their roster that has the potential to be a star player on the team not to mention the league ! Eventually the stars of yesterday become old so here we are the stars are over the hill and still believing they can compete with the teams that are much younger and athletic, perhaps their minds are decieving them or do they not want to admit the reality of today. Pierce and Garnett are still decent players and would be good players to have if they didn't have to be relied upon to carry the team on their shoulders. So who else does Boston have to lead them, Rondo is undoubtebly a great point guard but he's not to be relied upon for offense that's clearly not his game if you want him to be consistent. With that said you search the roster and its quite apparent that Boston doesn't have star quality players on their roster, Barbosa may be Boston's best offensiver player at this time and he hardly gets to play.
