Thoughts on a Potential, 3-Team, Star Player Trade?

The deal is:

Lakers get Rudy Gay

Grizz get Paul Pierce

Celtics get Pau Gasol

Its a deal spoken about by numerous GM's in the league, as Marc Stein's Weekly Dime mentions:

"So it's premature, to me, to throw Pierce's name up there with Rudy Gay and Pau Gasol on the list of high-profile names available this trade season, even though we've heard more than one rival team speculate -- given that the Celtics and Grizzlies, sources say, have indeed held some exploratory trade talks since Gay hit the market -- that a three-way deal where Pierce lands in Memphis, Gasol goes to Boston and Gay joins the Lakers makes "some sense.""

Though the deal seems highly unlikely given The Truth's service to the Celtics, what are your thoughts on this hypothetical trade going through, in the Celtics' perspective? I reckon Gas is a solid fit on the Celts, as they clearly lack in size and rebounding. However, does he offer enough shot blocking and defensive know-how to fit seamlessly in Doc's D? His rebounding an offensive polish is unquestioned. Also, in the event of Pierce leaving, is Jeff Green capable of fitting in as the starting 3?
