Celtics Lead Among Teams Negotiating Rights To Romero Osby - RealGM Wiretap
With the Boston Celtics as the leading candidate to acquire his rights, Romero Osby is finalizing a deal to sign in the NBA D-League, league sources told RealGM. Osby was a final cut of the Orlando Magic, who selected the rugged, active forward with the No. 51 pick in the NBA draft. Since Osby’s release in training camp, the Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, San Antonio Spurs and Brooklyn Nets have also expressed interest in him, sources said.
So are the Celtics trying to sign him or is it just the Maine Red Claws (which might make it easier for the Celtics to sign him later if they like him)? Technically we've got a spot open and we might have enough space under the cap to squeeze in a rookie free agent. I guess we'll see.
I'm not very familiar with Osby but his wingspan sure sounds impressive.
