After the first week of the season, one thing is clear to me: The team is trying to win games but they just aren't very good at it. And it's by design.
Leaving Rondo out of the equation, Danny Ainge has constructed a roster with one point guard and one center, both undrafted rookies (no offense to Vitor, who's been playing great, or to Pressey). Coach is coaching well, and the players for the most part are playing well. But the parts just don't fit together. We have no floor general and little interior defense. And again, it's by design imo.
You've got to think Danny wants that #1 draft pick next year, or something close to it at least. And with this roster he may very well get it. I don't like losing any more than the next guy, but if we play hard and develop our young guys and still end up with a top pick, it's got to be a win-win. Rondo's return will greatly improve the team on both sides of the ball, but before then we're going to lose a lot of games. Which is probably for the best.
Anyway, wanted to give credit to Danny for "tanking" one for the team. Good plan, executed well.
