We've heard murmurs between the teams before. First, it was the garbage pile of Shumpert/Felton/Stoudemire for Rondo and then later, there was another deal rumored to include Gerald Wallace and Courtney Lee. Now, Carmelo and Rondo's high school coach is suggesting that Carmelo is passing notes to Rajon recruiting/lobbying/begging him to join him in New York. Aren't there tampering rules against this? Not only has Ainge come out publicly in support of building around his 27-year-old point guard entering his prime, but the Knicks have nothing to offer Danny that could help in a rebuild.
In other news that may or may not relate to the C's, ESPN's Marc Stein is reporting that the Rockets are looking to deal Omer Asik in the next two weeks. The Celtics have enough variety of pieces to make a trade work with Houston, but I'm sure there will be a lot of suitors for Asik's services. There's also the revelation that the Celtics are interested in Pistons' power forward Greg Monroe; if you listen to the podcast, that seems more like a Bill Simmons pipe dream (he hates Jeff Green) rather than a possibility though. With Jared Sullinger, Kelly Olynyk, Vitor Faverani, and conceivably another big coming in next summer's draft, does Boston really need another front court player taking up valuable minutes?
