No Rondo, No Sully means it is officially time to start building/looking to the future. Let Pierce and KG (and Terry) go to teams that have at least a chance to win it all this year and then they can both walk away from the game.
here are my trade ideas (all work on ESPN trade machine):
Trade 1
Bos: S. Jackson, K. Leonard and D. Blair
SA: KG and J. Collins
Boston gets Jackson's expiring contract (can use the roughly $10M on another player(s) next year) a young solid wing player in Leonard (with a reasonable contract for 3 more years) and Blair who is solid on the box when he gets a chance to play (plus he has an expiring contract).
San Antonio gets KG to pair next to Duncan and another big for depth. They really only give up K.Leonard but having KG far outweighs that lose.
Trade 2
Bos: J. McGee and W. Chandler
Den: P. Pierce
Boston gets a young and athletic center in McGee (not great salary but what center get in this league) and a solid/stong wing in Chandler (reasonable salary). Denver gets Pierce to pair with Iguodala on the wings and they don't even play McGee right now. Basically swapping Pierce for Chandler
Trade 3
Bos: C. Aldrich and T. Jones
Hou: J. Terry
Boston gets another young big (on an expiring contract) and a young PF. Houston gets a veteran SG that can stretch the floor for Lin and Harden.
What we will have to build off of:
PG: Rondo / Lee / Barbosa
SG: Bradley / Leonard
SF: Green / Chandler / S. Jackson (gone after this year)
PF: Sully / Bass / Blair / Wilcox / T. Jones
C: McGee / Melo / Aldrich
We may need to cut someone (possibly S.Jackson - buy-out) to get roster down. Not sure how that works with Rondo and Sully out for the year.
Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.
