This whole speculation about "Is the team better without Rondo, or are they worse?" is so ridiculous. Rondo is not the problem, so stop pointing your fingers at him. If you know basketball, then you'll know what has changed with this team. Its not the player, it was the strategy, or coaching revolving around the strategy of play. Before you give your 2 cents, let me explain myself as clear as possible.
Let's start with Rondo. He is a legit point guard that runs and controls the lineup. Its literally how he's been playing his entire career. It is the main reason why the Celtics picked him up. For the past 5 years, he's been playing and being coached that style of basketball with the old BIG3 (Ray Allen, Pierce, KG). With Rondo being able to run that style of players into what was best for the team, got the Celtics to a Championship and very far into the playoffs.
Since Danny Ainge picked up all these new players in the off-season, it was clear he did it for depth. Not realizing how those players liked to play basketball. It was clear that the team wasn't clicking at the start of the season and couldn't hold it together game after game. It all came down to the strategy that was being coached with this team.
Now since Rondo has been out. The team has been playing a new style of basketball. Mainly because there isn't a legit point guard on the team other than Rondo. That new style was team basketball. This doesn't mean you have to trade Rondo. It just means when Rondo comes back, he has adapt to the new style of what is now being coached. And trust me, Rondo can do it.
These players that Ainge picked up obviously play better, not without Rondo, when everyone is involved in all the plays throughout the game . Not just here and there. We can see that Jeff Green needed more minutes and we now know how good Courtney Lee is with Avery Bradley. This entire winning streak has come from a new style of Celtics basketball. Team Basketball. I guarantee Rondo is understanding each players strengths now, and how he'll be able to use them when he returns. Hopefully the coaching staff turns the page with this new style and keeps Rondo in the mix at the same time.
Lastly, there was an interview with Rondo's agent. I don't have the entire speech or the exact words in front of me but I do remember him talking about this topic, whether the team is better or worse without Rondo. He had mentioned the Bulls as an example. They don't have Derrick Rose yet they are on a winning streak also. He then said, " is that team better without Rose?, I think not"
