NBA Trade Rumor: Celtics after Josh Smith - offering Bass and Green

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

How about another rumor? Sure, why not.

Gery Woelfel is the guy that tweeted last week that he heard that Boston was the "primary destination" for Josh Smith. He elaborates here.

BUCKS BEAT: UW's Berggren draws attention of NBA : Basketball

I’ve heard for a few weeks now that Boston is salivating over Atlanta forward Josh Smith and would be receptive to unloading Brandon Bass and Jeff Green to obtain him.

To which I respond: Well, obviously. But what are the Hawks receptive to? With all that cap space coming up in the summer, why take on all the salary involved in Green and Bass? Why not just re-up Smith for an extension? Unless another team gets involved, I'm not sure I see where this rumor is going, but you never know I guess.

Gery goes on to mention that the Nets are interested (with the oft rumored Humphries/Brooks package) and that the Bucks might be a good fit.

Round and round we go.
