Do you think Pierce would have left if Bird had been traded? (That's the first thing I'd say to Danny if I had the chance)

I believe loyalty is important, especially with your stars. I do believe that Paul Pierce looking up into those banners and realizing all the Celtic's mystique helped Pierce stay in green, when so many of today's stars probably would have left. That loyalty that Red Auerbach showed to his stars, keeping them in green through the end of their careers played a part. How big a part is tough to tell, but there's no doubt some mystique is lost if Bird or others left for the end of their careers. It pays to be unique.

There's no way to know any of this for sure. Pierce would be the best man to ask of course. But we're talking about trying to help keep and attract future stars. Keeping that unique mystique and tradition well is something I'm a big fan of.

And of course a little disclaimer: heck ya I'd like to see my favorite player ever Paul Pierce play his whole career in a Celtic's uniform woooo!

PS. The post's title is more to get people thinking... in terms of comments for this post I was more thinking about the current and future implications for the Cs... and yes Jeff's recent posts did have some sway in me finally posting back here again haha
