He's 6'6" and listed as a small forward, but he's now our backup point guard - which somehow makes sense because we don't have a starting point guard.
I knew that Doc and Danny wanted a "ball handling" guard and that we needed a point guard, but I didn't expect a 6'6" small forward to become our defacto backup point guard. In just two games, it seems like Terrence Williams has become just that.

That Williams could play the point guard position is something the Celtics learned last summer when he spent two weeks working out for them. “He’s more of a point guard than anything else,” said coach Doc Rivers, who added that Williams can play the small forward and shooting guard positions as well. In college, Williams said, he was listed as a small forward but he brought the ball up the court more often than not. And during his brief time in the NBA (he has played for the Nets, Rockets, and Kings), he also played point guard. “I just like to have the ball in my hands,” he said.
If he keeps it up, he'll be around much longer than his current 10 game contract.
He averaged 5.5 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists over 18.5 minutes per game, displaying a diverse skill set that could really aid an injury-depleted Boston team moving forward. It's clear that, if Williams can maintain this sort of immediate impact on the floor, the Celtics will be ripping up that 10-day deal and locking him up for the remainder of the season. It's a small sample, but from what he's shown in 37 minutes of floor time, it's staggering that he has been out of the league to this point.
It sounds like maturity issues have been what kept him out of the league for a while, but he's always had talent. So just as with Jordan Crawford, if the Celtic environment can get him to fly straight after some humbling experiences, then we'd be more than happy to see him continue his maturation process by helping us win basketball games.
