I know its only been 1 game since the trade deadline, and you can tell me I'm over-doing it but I don't care personally. I know basketball, and I know what I've seen with my own two eyes. This Celtics team have over come a lot of issues. Whether it'd be losing an All-Star point guard Rajon Rondo. What could've been Rookie of the Year Jared Sullinger. Then lastly, Leandro Barbosa, who was actually becoming better and better as the games went on.
Since those players went down, the rest of this team had to put everything aside and fight their hardest game in and game out for the rest of the season. Not letting those 3 players affect their outcome for the season. Leading the way is the Celtics captain, Paul Pierce, and on court captain, Kevin Garnett. With all the trade talks and rumors before the deadline had an effect on some players. Brandon Bass, Jeff Green, and Courtney Lee were the more important ones. Not mentioning the KG, Pierce, and Rondo trades. One thing I kept noticing about the players talking game in and game out, even the Ainge and Doc, is that KG and Pierce want the Title right now. Not next year, or the year after, Right Now. With all the talk of KG and how Paul Pierce looks on the court recently, this could be their last year. It could of been the reason why Rondo was so emotional when not being able to play for the remainder of the season.
After the trade deadline was over, they played a team that isn't good what so ever. Whether a team is good or not, their still considered an NBA team. If the Celtics are good like they showed, they'd be able to use crappy games to bring out the best n themselves while they're on the court. They obviously did that against the Suns. The bigger point I want to mention is how they played. Clearly the C's got to understand how Terrence Williams and Jordan Crawford play in 1 or 2 practices leading up to the Phoenix game. The Celtics must of seen the passion and I.Q. when they watched them. Once that game started, Jeff Green was aggressive. Brandon Bass was doing as much as possible around the boards. I also know they had to because Garnett was out for the game. Mean while, earlier in the season, they were having problems when subbing KG out of the games. Again, I know its one game, but it gives us a clear shot of what potential the C's really have.
Then their 2 amigo's entering the game together, coming off the bench. They completely lit up the entire bench, not including Paul Pierce overlooking what the new guys could do. With all the I.Q. and knowledge of T-WIll and Crawford, they basically complete the bench lineup when giving the starting lineup a breather. They provide great ball movement, shooting, communicating, and this kind of AND1 basketball style of play. It was very entertaining to watch it. To be honest, after the first sub in off the bench, I kept looking forward to seeing them play more throughout the game. Its clear these players are exactly what the Celtics and Celtics Nation are looking for.
Lastly, it seemed like the trades and rumors had an emotional effect on those players mentioned above. Now that its over with and they still wear the Green and White jersey, they can still make that run for Banner 18. I still believe they can. Obviously I need to see how effective they are playing against a playoff team. No one said I can't have an opinion. Those guys just need to continue to play hard every game. Hopefully they can and will do.
Next step is to sign T-Will for the rest of the season.
Any comments or suggestions??
