The Boston Celtics as it stands, are ranked 16th in the NBA in bench scoring at 33 points per game. However, over the course of this 4-game winning streak, the Celtics may have found a new "Big Three", but these 3 guys can be found on the bench.
During the Celtics' 4-game winning streak, the Celtics bench has averaged an extremely impressive 43 points a game. The bench play has been highlighted by the "Big Three Off The Bench", which consists of Jason Terry, Jeff Green, and Leandro Barbosa.
Over the last 4 games, these three have averaged a solid 36.5 points a game. Not only is the point production rather high, but the efficiency is outstanding as well. These 3 have also outscored the entire opposing bench 36.5 to 28.8 (+7.7), and 146 to 115 total.
Jason Terry has averaged 12.5 points, shooting 56.5% from the field, and 39% from 3-point range during this stretch.
Leandro Barbosa has averaged 10.5 points, shooting 51.1% from the field, and 50% from 3-point range.
Lastly, Jeff Green has averaged 13.5 points, shooting 57.1% from the field, and 33% from 3-point range.
As a matter of fact, the Boston Celtic bench is tied with San Antonio, and Oklahoma City for the best bench field goal percentage in the NBA (46.6%).
It's refreshing to see how much these players have stepped up, especially Terry who has been struggling for much of the season. Terry as a matter of fact, has had 5 consecutive games with double-digit points in his last 5 games, which is the longest of the season.
The same thing can go for Jeff Green who has also had 5 straight games with double digit points, which is also the highest of this season.
For Barbosa, the last two games have tied his season high for consecutive double-digit points.
If the Celtics want to make a championship push, they're going to have to rely on the bench. I hope they can keep up the outstanding play.
Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.
