I am just tired of the way the NBA is all and only about Lebron and the Heat. For the last weeks, if you have visited nba.com, the home page is always about that. And today (the day after MIA-BOS), what's on there? A giant picture of Lbj while busting that weird dancing/godzilla type move after he hit that last basket against Boston. Captions underneath the pic? "James' winner" "LeBron posterizes Terry" "LeBron on streak" "Anatomy of a streak"..........
Then you say alright I'm going to go watch the top 10 plays video...what do you get? Not one single play by the Celtics against Miami. In this top 10, who ranks #2? James' dunk on Terry. Who ranks #1? James' last basket of the game.
So then I'm like ok, I'm going to see what they picked for their "nightly notable" video, expecting them to have picked Jeff Green for his monster game. Jeff Green scored 43 points. Against the Heat. I mean, no player has scored that many points this season against the Heat. A year ago, the guy was still rehabbing from a major heart surgery, where he could have died, and last night he outscored the best active player on the planet, Lebron James. So who did the nba picked for the "nightly notable" video?.....well, you knew it, LeBron James.
So yes, James had an amazing game last night. But once more, he bailed his team out. Without him, the Heat were getting destroyed last night.
But most of all, I'm sick of seeing how the nba treats the facts. I mean come on. The Heat have trailed the whole game. Boston scored a 17-0 run on them in the first quarter. Boston didn't even have its defensive anchor, KG. And how about this chasing block by Bradley on Cole? Not even in the top 10 video?
How about a good article right after the game that shows how Miami can be shaken up, how Boston played with heart and guts without KG and Rondo and Sully and Barbosa, and still freaking managed to basically dominate that game? How about a reminder of the Spurs sitting out its stars while playing Miami in Miami, and almost won the game?
I understand that Lbj and the Heat are the nba biggest marketing assets right now. But come on. This is so biased. I am a French citizen. I live in France now but I used to live in Boston for years. And I guess the Leprechaun sneaked into my Inman Square bedroom one night while I was asleep and injected some green blood into my veins because now I can't stop following the C's. I stayed up til 4am last night to watch the whole game. And I'm telling you. The nba marketing staff and Stern the guru can keep capitalizing on Lbj. But if the refs do a good a job in the playoffs at keeping it fair (like whistling when James takes 3 giant steps for an open dunk right in front of the ref), the deal will be sealed right on the court. Not on their website.
