Writing from the Great White North...been a huge Celtics fan since 86.
I have been behind Danny w most of his moves, even saw the logic in the JG for Perk deal...and realize he was hedging his bets on Shaq being healthy, argue the sanity of that all you want.
Really liked his moves in the offseason to re-load, even though the season hasn't played out as expected.
With that in mind, I do feel that the Celtics are capable of beating any team in the east...except for the Heat...nobody is going to stop them... I do believe the Celtics are the only team that can push the Heat to the limit.
I would never advocate tanking, but with the recent swoon, and the fact that the gap between the 8 seed and missing the playoffs is huge...should Doc rest up K.G and Pierce (give them days off as he has) or even move them to the bench for certain games and monitor their minutes based on flow.
Obviously the debate over whether Jeff Green should start has started, and the answer is...both...start him certain games based on match ups and have him come off the bench in others, but he should be logging starters minutes for the rest of the season.
I believe the Celtics have more depth now than any team since 07-08, and for the rest of the regular season Doc should use it as an audition to get a better feel for what the playoff rotation should be.
Ultimately, even if I don't think we "will" beat the Heat, I have to believe we can. I think if we are going to beat them, our best chance is in the first round with rested veterans.
We are after all in year 6 of a 3 year plan, we're playing with house money.
