What It Takes To Win In The NBA

To win in the NBA you need: 1) Strong ownership that cares about the team and has the resources to be tax payers when warranted. (I think Wyc and team have proven this. Flash back to Paul Gaston while thinking about this.]
2) Smart, confident, daring GM who is unafraid to take risks and has a vision for the team. (Danny always has a frank assessment of the team and is unafraid to pursue this vision).
3) Coach that is strong in X's and O's but is also a talented motivator, can get the most out of veterans and young players alike. (Personally I think Doc has developed many young players into assets Perk, Al, Delonte, Tony, Baby, Rondo, Avery although I know others disagree). 4) 3 All-Stars, one of which is a Top 50 player in NBA history. LeBron, Kobe, Garnett, Duncan, Shaq, Michael, Hakeem, Larry, Magic cover the last 30+ years of title winners with only a few exceptions (2004 Pistons, 2011 Mavs maybe). This is obviously the hardest part. Rondo either needs to emerge as an MVP candidate or fill the #2 slot. Jeff Green *could* be a 3rd star if the rest of his career reflects the 2nd half of his season last year. From this analysis we need to pull off another KG trade-like trade by developing young players like Bradley, Sully, etc. and finding the right opportunity. I know this is far easier said that done. We need to keep collecting assets and wait for the next Dwight/Chris Paul type mess so we can be in a position to be a participant in that marketplace when it emerges. Once we do, we are back in business.
