What are we REALLY getting from Brooklyn?

I'd like to take a moment and piece out exactly what we're really getting in the Brooklyn trade. I've seen a lot of people hating on the players, but personally I have no problem with them, so let me explain.

Of course it all begins and ends with the draft picks... A 2014, 2016, and a 2018 first round pick. I've also read that we may have the option to swap picks with them in 2017... Don't know if that has been confirmed yet. Obviously that's a lor of picks and a great way for us to jump start our rebuild. Even if 2014 is a late round pick, it's in a really good draft, so it's worth it. But I don't think anyone is arguing this, so lets look at the players, which is what I'm really interested in.

  • I'll start with my personal favorite of all the players we're receiving: Marshon Brooks. Brooks is a young SG who has shown he can score when given minutes. He's also capable of playing decent defense and could be a better pairing with Rondo than Bradley is. Brooks also has potential to improve as he's still quite young.
  • The second player we'll look at is Kris Humphries. Now I know many people don't care for him because of the Kardashian fiasco, but let's keep this about his basketball skills. The guy showed at one point that he could average 10 and 10 given the minutes. He was pushed out of the lineup this past season and his numbers suffered for it ( Brooklyn instead went with a more physical Reggie Evans.) The other thing about Kris is his large contract. At 10mil a year, it's pretty steep. But I actually view his contract as a boon for the Celtics. It's expiring and allows the Celtics to drop 10million in cap next season. More to the point we could always trade that off for picks to someone trying to get enough cap free to make run at LeBron. Even if we don't move him I'm this way we will drop 10 million off the payroll, or if he can play we could always resign him for less.
  • The final player is Gerald Wallace, and while his contract is awful, it's only 5(?) million more than Terry's was. So this is pretty much the cost of all those picks. I'm ok with it to be honest, and I think Wallace will be far more productive than Terry was.
  • We'll be receiving one or two other players as well but I'm not going to address them here. If you want to mention it in the comments.
So as a whole I like the trade, and see real value in two of the players we'll be getting. What do you guys think? Let me know and be sure to rec ;)
