The Boston Celtics have arrived to a point where they need to change things in their roster. We have seen this year how the Celtics, because of injuries and inexperience, could not face the season and the playoffs as they truly should. It's obvious that the ACL injury of Rajon Rondo became a disaster for the team apart from not having a good guy to protect the rim or just to have some presence in the low post.
Doc Rivers has tried to rest KG when it was needed and tried to have some confidence on Shavlik Randolph who proved that can be a consistent player for a period of 10-12 minutes on the court. Not as D.J White which proved nothing, like Jason Terry which only had 2 good games on the whole season.
Taking into account Danny Ainge decisions, the risk of drafting Jared Sullinger was a great choice. He was one of the steals of 2012-2013 draft. But selecting Fab Melo became one of the worst selections. A guy who just got into the draft because of his length and his "ability" to block, which wasn't very notorious in his few minutes on a NBA arena. Now the ones that loved Fab Melo and see on him a development will say that he proved he was good on his NBA D-League games, but the D-League isn't NBA level.
So for this year Boston Celtics have 2 options.
1- Continue at the same level and loose the last season of KG
2- Start the rebuilding process
Taking into account the money that the have available and the unique selection on the draft, here are my proposals:
1- SOFT REBUILDING:
- DRAFT A CENTER: GORGUI DIENG OR STEVEN ADAMS
- TRADE: COURTNEY LEE FOR IAN MAHINMI (It works)
- SIGN: DEJUAN BLAIR
2- HARD REBUILDING:
DRAFT: DENNIS SCHOREDER
*DRAFT TRADE: Trade Jordan Crawford, Jason Terry and Fab Melo to Minnesota for the 1st Round pick and select Alex Len:
So that we would get a good backup PG and one of the best Cs on this year draft.
COURTNEY LEE FOR IAN MAHINMI: Which will gave us a solid backup center
BRANDON BASS FOR WILSON CHANDLER
Try to sign:
SO THIS WOULD BE THE PERFECT ROSTER FOR ME
G- Rajon Rondo / Dennis Schoreder / Erick Maynor
F - Paul Pierce / Al-Farouq Aminu
C- Alex Len, JJ. Hickson, Ian Mahinmi
