Top of the class: Olynyk highly regarded by fellow rookies

Streeter Lecka

We've loved what we've seen so far from Kelly Olynyk. He shined in the Orlando summer league with his inside game and outside shot and now, his fellow rookies are starting to take notice.

In an NBA.com survey of 36 rookies at the NBA rookie symposium two weeks ago, Kelly Olynyk didn't just turn heads by flying in a unicorn.  With his play in Orlando, many of his peers (agree with us) and consider him one of the best players in their draft class.  When asked who would be Rookie of the Year, Kelly finished 3rd behind Victor Oladipo and C.J. McCollum (tied at 24.2%) with 18.2% of the vote and tied for 1st with Oladipo at 18.2% when the first timers were asked who would have the best career.  Short and long term success bode well for Olynyk and the Celtics as the team starts to rebuild.  And for what it's worth, Olynyk again tied for first with "most overlooked rookie" with 8.6% of the vote.

He's recovering from plantar fasciitis and hasn't seen much floor time since July.  He's had to skip Team Canada workouts but last Friday, he took some time off to work with the Shamrock Foundation at Canobie Lake Park.
