I love this news. I'm a Michigan guy and I've always loved Sims. The kid's got guts and has battled through a lot of personal adversity. On the floor, he always reminded me of a tougher version of Ryan Gomes. He's undersized at 6'8, but he'll bang with the big boys and has got pretty decent range. I hate to say this because he was so great in Ann Arbor, but had he been a Butler Bulldog, he would have been perfect in Brad Stevens' grinding system.
Sims isn't a stranger to the Celtics. After going undrafted three years ago, he played on our summer league team and tore it up as a Maine Red Claw that season. He's bounced around internationally, but this could be a chance to finally play stateside. As Jay King at MassLive.com suggests, Danny could choose to waive the newly-acquired Donte Greene in favor of signing a rookie minimum contract with Sims and more importantly, staying under the luxury tax line.
