Point Guard Rajon Rondo made his 1 year debut yesterday. After, recovering from a torn ACL that forced to sideline him for most of the part of last season and into this one. He only played 19 minutes, which was very suitable time frame for him to recover from, after his injury. Not too long of a time frame for him to feel uncomfortable nor too short to not allowing him to easily fit back into the mix.
Rondo's 8 points and 4 assists was a good start. You can throw in the 4/9 from the field as a confidence builder for Rondo. Right now, Rondo doesn't have to be the best player on the floor for them at this point. Jeff Green, Avery Bradley, and others are the starters who now the roles down pat for now. But, as the season becomes longer. We will start to see the importance of Rondo being back, helping us. He is after all one of the best point guards in the NBA. And definitely the Celtics best threat at the guard spot. Though, the best word to describe the timetable for Rondo is simply "time". Just let him get his feet under him for a few weeks. Make sure he gets back to form, after a horrific injury. Knowing that Derrick Rose and Kobe Bryant both re-injured themselves while coming back this season, hopefully doesn't fear Rondo.
Because, Boston is in a win-win situation for the next few years. With Rondo back he can be able to sharpen their guard skills at a decent rate. Also, Celtics aren't really playoff contenders yet. They all have young guys who will be emerging as star players in the coming 3-5 years. So there is rightfully no reason to panic, barring Rondo's comeback. All of the pressure is off now and all he has to do is just play.
