OK, I know this involves the hated Lakers and I don't think we've done a trade with them since Rick Fox but who says no to this:
Boston out:
Wallace, Bogans trade exception, Bogans the player and 2 first round picks (not in 2014).
Lakers out:
Gasol
Obviously, we cut Gasol as soon as the trade is approved by the league.
Why for Lakers:
Doesn't impact their cap situation this year. Next year, they save a net of about $14 million. Plus the picks. Lakers will not do better than 2 first round picks for Gasol.
Why for Celtics:
Doesn't help us financially this year, but clears 19 million next year (and $12 million leaving via Hump). Gives us tremendous cap flexibility and allows us to acquire a major player, and afford Rondo and our core. We have so many picks and it is really hard to clear major cap space. The two picks are worth the space.
