To Keep or Not to Keep Rondo-2 Different Trade Ideas

I have to admit, I have never been a big Rondo fan. I have always enjoyed his play, his court vision and his ability to make hard passes look easy but I have never liked his attitude. I always thought he had the ability to one of the greats if he only played with passion every time out. This is also why Lebron James will never be one of the greatest in my book, to many games taken off. I had the privilege to watch Jordan, Bird and Magic, these guys rarely , if ever took a game off.

That said, I do think he is a special talent and could be a piece to build a championship. He has also said the right things recently, maybe he has changed?

Trade 1 - Keeping Rondo

Indiana trades Hibbert to Boston

Boston trades Bass, Thornton, Zeller and 2 first round picks to Indiana(lottery protected)

Why Indiana does this- Without George, this is a lost season and Hibbert has a player option for next year. Indiana needs to get something for him. The expiring contracts of Bass & Thornton and trading of Hibbert allows Indiana to have a lot of Cap Space for next summer. Zeller will compete for the starting Center position.

Why for Boston- With Hibbert, Boston gets the Rim Protector they really need. With Bradley, Smart, Green, Rondo, Sully and Hibbert, this could be a special team on the defensive side. He slso only avaerages 30 minutes a night, so there is plety of playing time for a front court of Hibbert, Sullinger and Olynyk. Lastly, this team is definately a Playoff team!!

Trade 2 -Total Rebuild, trade Rondo to the Knicks

3 Teams: Boston, Detroit & New York

New York Gets: Rondo, Wallace & Smith(Detroit)

Bosotn Gets: Stoudemire, Outlaw, Shumpert, Larkin, Hardaway Jr., Early

Detroit Gets: Green & Bass

Why for New York - Rondo & Smith gives NY 2 more stars to pair with Anthony. They become a contender in the Eastern conference.

Why for Detroit - They get a SF they need in Green while gettting out of Smith´s contract. Bass is an expiring contract.

Why for Boston - They get a real threat off the bench in Hardaway Jr., plus other young players that could be worth a future look in Larkin and Early. Shumpert is trade bait for another pick or young player. Expiring contracts in Stoudemire and Outlaw, if possible the Celts buy them out immediately. This also frees up major Cap Space by getting rid of Wallage, Green and Rondo.

Other players may need to be added to make this work, did not check the numbers. Just putting out a general idea on what I would do to the Celts if I was the GM.

Do you like either of these trades, what players would you want to trade for realisticaly, if possible?
