When One Becomes Two

Not talking divorce here, but borrowing a page from rebuilding NFL teams and trading down in the draft to get more draft picks.

The Celtics are not the only team holding multiple first-rounders in 2014. Utah, Charlotte, Orlando, Philadelphia and Oklahoma City each have two first rounders, while Phoenix looks to hold three of the first 30 picks. Most people have been looking at Danny trying to move up in the first round, but Danny loves quantity of assets especially at this stage of rebuilding.

The two most likely trade partners are Phoenix (thanks to the resurgent Wizards giving them a third non-lottery pick) and Utah. With the Suns it could be a straight swap of picks; the Celtics first rounder for the first two picks Phoenix holds (right now that's #17 and #22). With Utah the Celtics wouldn't be picking up both draft choices but getting the Jazz's lower pick (#23) and Gordon Hayward for their lottery pick and a contract (Keith Bogans's looks as good as anyone' elses).
