Randy Auerbach: Celtics never should've traded Pierce+KG; Rondo needs veterans around him

Red Auerbach's daughter, Randy was on Celtics Beat on CLNS Radio last Saturday, and had a few interesting things to say:

1.) Boston never should've traded Pierce + KG. Their veteran presences would've been huge for the young guys and they deserved to retire as Celtics.

2.) Rondo and the team are struggling due to the lack of veteran leadership that Pierce + KG could've provided.

3.) Appreciated what Brad Stevens did when he sent out all the letters to former Celtics, however it's redundant because the door is always open in the Celtics organization.

4.) Not a fan of LeBron James while a huge fan of Kevin Durant. He goes about his business so quietly whereas LeBron is more "showboating." Also doesn't have the intensity of Kobe Bryant.

5.) "Don't bet on" Phil Jackson doing well in New York. He's had no experience building a team like her father Red. That's always what has separated the two in terms of legacies. Phil goes to ready-made teams, whereas Red built and coached them.

Jay King from Mass Live was also on. Said he couldn't disagree more with Auerbach, and that the future is bright. King also talked to a few execs around the league and said that they said that Minnesota should've put Kevin Love on the market last trade deadline. Boston could be a destination, and regardless if they get him or not, the Celtics should be in on every possible trade scenario for a star player because they have so many assets.
