Ian Eagle thinks Paul Pierce will re-sign with Nets on 2-year deal, but says KG could retire

Nicole Sweet-USA TODAY Sports

Ian Eagle, voice of the Brooklyn Nets for the YES Network as well as CBS Sports play-by-play announcer was on Celtics Beat on Saturday. The Celtics Beat Fan Question of the Day asked Ian what he thought Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett's futures were in the NBA.

"I think he's going to be back. I think he's going to end up signing a two year deal and they'll pay him. He'll get his money with the Nets. They understand his role on this team and that there is a leadership and an edge that he brings to this franchise" Eagle said.

He said Pierce struggled early on accepting the Boston trade. But the game back in January brought "closure."

Eagle said that Garnett's future is up in the air, however. The back injury has bothered him a ton. And if he can't bring it like he normally can, he sees Garnett walking away. Particularly if the Nets get bounced out in the post-season early.

Eagle also discussed NCAA March Madness, as well as NBA Draft prospects -- as he's been covering the NCAA Tournament as a play-by-play announcer for CBS.

A Syracuse alumni himself, Eagle discussed Tyler Ennis. Oddly enough, he didn't give him a rave review. To listen to the whole interview, copy and paste the link below:
