Dark Horse Candidate for #17 pick

Markel-brown-dunk_medium

Was looking over the athleticism test results. First let me say I believe in picking hard workers, winners, and guys that get the job done over athletic freaks who have done nothing but have a lot of upside. With that being said...I know Danny sometimes seems to pick athletic guys in the late first round who haven't fully developed. Some never do.

One guy who jumped off the page is Markel Brown. Easily the most athletic guy tested at the combine. His standing vertical leap is higher than most guys max vertical. This is not a guy fresh out of high school who is a project. He's a four year player who has steadily improved each year. Posted shooting percentages of 47/38/77 his senior year.

He's 6'2.5" in bare feet with long arms and big hands. Can jump out of the gym. Solid ball handler. Blow by speed. Loves to attack the rack. Average defender, but with his athleticism that's just a mind set. Guy led his team to a state title in high school with a perfect record. Reputation as a hard worker.

Does this sound a little like a cheaper version of Avery Bradley who could easily be available at 17? Not the defender Bradley is, but probably a better shooter. Can you see Rondo hooking up with Brown on back door cuts?

I think we are going to get a really good player at #17. Markel Brown was not on my radar, He is now.
