After working hard all season long to win the tank battle. Boston yet again gets betrayed by the Basketball Gods and gets snubbed for a Top 3 pick in Draft Lottery. Being dropped down to the 6th pick (like we all presumed). Even with a lower pick in the draft. Boston still has many options to turn to. Jabari Parker, Andrew Wiggins, and if not falling lower Joel Embiid are all off the radar for Danny Ainge to scheme this June.
Leaving us with a handful of players accompanied by talent still waiting to be utilized correctly. Dante Exum, Julius Randle, Marcus Smart, and Aaron Gordon are still bright talents left on the table to pick up. Though only 1 can be chosen and the rumors recently have been settling that Kevin Love wants out of Minnesota by no later than next season. Giving the Celtics front office a golden chance to devise a plan to lore Love to Boston, trade-no trade option.
If the plan this summer pans out, the Celtics are glaring at a major breach in the bucket. No prime players are endangered for trade bait. Gerald Wallace, Brandon Bass and others have been recently talked about for value. But still nothing has sparked interest to make a prime move. Another insight for Love trade is to wait and see after 1st round decision is made in Draft. Getting a guy like Gordon could be a better start than to gather another high asset inside. Also the name "Kevin Love" certainly is too good of an offer to pass up on no matter what the situation is.
This is why selecting a guard first is more predictable in either Exum, Randle, or Smart. To then grab Love later to help build around the already growing foundation. Of course more teams are in competition for Love, with multiple needs and wants ready to be pulled. Decisions like this are fragile and needs the most time of essence possible.
