In an all time smoke screen and frustrated with the slow progress of trade talks with Minny Anthony is a natural fit to team up with his buddy Rondo and would cost the Celtics a lot less assets. Also, the Rondo/Anthony pairing would make it attractive to other free agents to come to Boston. Flip Saunders may have just gotten a little too greedy as Danny Ainge pursues other options.
BOS does sign and trade with NY for SF Carmelo for two first round picks (#6 in 2014 pick plus PHI first round (or 2 second rounders), Green, Bass, Anthony (expiring), and waivable contracts of Bogans/Babb/Johnson).
Clear huge cap space for NY to pursue other players, two sorely needed first round picks, a replacement at SF in Green, and two vets who expiring after next year.
Boston uses PP TPE to get Asik, Pierce on MLE, and remaining cap space to sign or trade for one more star (i.e.
BOS - Rondo/Bradley/Anthony/Sullinger/Asik plus #17 draft pick, another star, Olynyk, Pierce, Faverani, and use a future first round pick to trade Wallace to get him off the books.
If Minny snoozes it loses and Boston wins either way. BOS still has numerous first round future draft picks to round out team.
