A lot of draft chatter / smoke screens

And not much of it makes sense. The last thing you want as an organization is for other teams to know who you want. The WCS chatter for the Celtics is reaching such a fever pitch I sense it is a smoke screen. The Celtics are hard to figure because they have so many needs and any player could be dealt by Trader Danny.

Right now, we know we could use a true point guard, a shooting guard that can shoot (sorry Avery), a small forward that can shoot (sorry ET), a PF that can protect the rim, and a center that can protect the rim and clean the glass.

We need everything. Which leads me to believe that trading #16, #28, and God knows what else for WCS does not make a lick of sense. WCS could be the final piece to a puzzle in a couple of years when he matures. But we are missing several pieces.

Conclusion: Danny will explore his options. But end up keeping #16 and drafting BPA. Based on our interviews my best guess is that we are honing in on Kaminski, Oubre, Portis, Payne, Hollis-Jefferson, Turner, Booker, and Looney.

I think we are more likely to trade up from #28. We interviewed Wood, McCullough, Rozier, Tyus Jones, Justin Anderson, Mickey, and Upshaw. We could package #28 and #33 and move up and grab someone who drops from the first group.

I think the guy I want at #16 is Portis. What dooms most big guys is injuries and laziness. Portis is a machine. The motor never stops. Zeller and Portis for 48 mpg could run opposing big men into oblivion. He can spread the floor with a jumper like Zeller. Good defender. Active and can defend multiple positions. Not a great defensive rebounder so would pair well with Sullinger. Portis won't be a star, but he should be a quality big who can make an impact off the bench.

At #28, I can see us moving up for guys like RJ Hunter or Justin Anderson. If they drop, then we could package #28 and #33 and move up and grab one of them.

When you have a lot of positions of need you stand pat. We need to get a couple of rotation players in the first round. WCS could be the next Fab Melo. We can't mortgage the farm for a limited offensive player. The Celts stand pat or jump up a couple of spots from #16 with a 2nd round sweetener and grab BPAs with both first round picks.
