The Celtics have an overabundance of picks this year and would obviously like to consolidate them into fewer but better selections (the old "turn quarters into a dollar" metaphor works well). If the Celtics made their #3 pick available to teams for an unprotected 2017 first round pick, which teams would say no? I imagine the Cs would make that trade with the following teams:
Phoenix
Philly
Sacramento
LAL (although this would make me nervous given their potential trade/FA pulls)
Anyone else? Would trading the #3 overall for any of these teams' first next year be a smart move for the Celtics? It would give them and second first round pick next year in a much deeper and better draft, allowing them to potentially capitalize on both/either trading and/or using a top lottery pick.
Would any of these teams say yes to such a deal? Perhaps only if they had talked themselves deeply into Dunn, Bender, or Hield and wanted to get a jump start on their rebuilding with two high picks in this year's draft.
Thoughts?
