The Ultimate Win Later Trade That Would Spawn A Dynasty

Our community seems pretty divided on the subject of whether or not we should win now or win later. Conventional wisdom would suggest we should consolidate and go for it given were already a top 6 team with abundance of young assets whose best players are 28 and 30. The issue is, no trade out there would give us a chance to win 4 of 7 games against the leagues elite. Paul George and Boogie aren't going anywhere. Butler would cost way too much and would still be the 3rd or 4th best player in a series against the Cavs or Warriors.

I think Danny showed his hand to some extent with his recent comments regarding rentals and band aids. He knows this team cannot compete with GS and some of his best assets (Smart, Brown, Brooklyn picks, zizic, yabusele, rozier) are all under the age of 22. The most logical course of action would then be to aim for a timeline of contention that coincides with these guys primes, focusing on player development in the meantime.

Paul George has recently stated he wants to win and is hesitant to sign an extension which has lead to some around here thinking a window of opportunity has opened up. And it has, just not he window you were expecting. Larry Bird is going to do whatever it takes to keep PG around so why not help our old friend out while syphoning one of the leagues most promising players? A player that fits our timeline and system to a T and fulfills and key area of need. I am of course referring to Myles Turner. He's a massive body, an excellent rim protector and has a jumpshot that extends to the 3 point line with plenty of room to grow. He's a player that under normal circumstance would never be available because of his combination of talent, upside and youth, but with PGs recent remarks Larry just might be pressured into making a move. Outside of Turner the Pacers lack the assets it would take to build a contender around PG.

So here's the trade.

Celtics Receive: Myles Turner, Lavoy Allen, Pacers 2017 1st Round Pick

Pacers Receive: Isaiah Thomas, Kelly Olynyk and Gerald Green

Pacers could then use future picks and ancillary parts to swing a deal for a guy like Brooks Lopez or Nerlens and they would instantly jump into the same tier as Toronto and Washington. The Celtics would obviously take a step back at first, but would still be comfortably in playoff contention.

You can't tell me you wouldn't be psyched about this core going forward.

Turner 20, Brown 20, Smart 22, Rozier 22, Zizic 20, Yabusele 20, (Fultz/Balll/Jackson/Tatum/Isaac), (Brooklyn 18 probably top 4)

Sprinkle in some vets to keep us competitive.

Horford 30, Bradley 26, Crowder 26

These guys are all low usage but highly impactful players who are still improving and wouldn't stunt the other guys development.

This is what the 2017-2018 Celtics could look like without signing any FA.

Smart / Fultz / D-Jax

Bradley / Rozier / Josh Hart (twolves 2nd)

Crowder / Brown / Miles Bridges (pacers pick)

Horford / Yabusele / Mickey

Turner / Zizic / Zeller
