Celtics Target: Klay Thompson

I think we can all agree that Isaiah Thomas is having a historic season leading our beloved Celtics, but we are still at least one piece away from true title contention. There seems to be a new trade target that Celtic fans (including myself) obsess over every few weeks, right now its Jimmy Butler. Though Butler is a great player (he's averaging 25/7/5 with solid defense) I don't think he would be a great fit in Boston, as long as ball dominant players Isaiah and Smart are still around (as they say, there's only one ball). I think the Celtics need a star that dosnt need the ball in his hands and has experience playing late in the playoffs. The first player that comes to mind is Klay Thompson of the Warriors.

While being the 3rd (or sometimes even the 4th) scoring option on the Warriors, Thompson is still managing to put up solid numbers. Thompson is averaging 22 points on 47/40/85 shooting, and would be a perfect fit in any system, expecially in Boston, where he would be the #2 scoring option as soon as he walks in the door.

Although it would be hard to acquire Klay Thompson from the Warriors as he's considered to be one of their building blocks and part of their core four, I don't think it would be impossible. Since Golden State is obviously competing for a championship this season, they would need win-now players and a solid Thompson replacement in return. For starters, I think Avery Bradley and a Brooklyn pick would need to be included in the deal along with a solid big man, as the Warriors currently have Zaza Pachulia and JaVale McGee manning the 5 position. Boston dosnt have any big men that would entice the Warriors to trade Thompson so a third team would likely be needed. Nikola Vucevic of the Magic would be a great addition to Golden State as he's a double-double machine on a cheap contract. It likely wouldn't take much to acquire him so a combination of Terry Rozier, a future first round pick and salary filler should get it done.

So here's the deal: Klay Thompson to the Boston Celtics; Avery Bradley, Nikola Vucevic and a Nets pick (2017 or 2018) to the Golden State Warriors; Terry Rozier, Tyler Zeller and the 2018 Celtics pick to the Orlando Magic
