Boston Celtics/Washington Wizards: 11/2/07 - Open Game Thread

Since the game is on ESPN will Tommy Heinsohn and Mike Gorman get blacked out? Yes it has been that long since the Celtics were on national TV. And if the answer is no it raises another question. Which broadcast do I watch? Can I really turn my back on Tommy when he's good for at least one Kevin Garnett inspired maniacal laugh? Tough call but I've got a plan. I'll watch the ESPN game so I can enjoy the fact that the Celtics are on ESPN. But I'll DVR the Comcast, or whatever the hell it is called now broadcast. Then I'll watch that at some point to get Tommy's incredibly biased take and maybe track a player's time on the court like I did with Big Baby a while back.

In the meantime let's enjoy the show.

Celtics Home Game?

No really, is this a Celtics home game? Listen to the boos for Arenas. The "Let's Go Celtics" chants. This is different.

Wow

That was F-U-N! It's only one half but damn that looked good. Obviously there's a lot of adrenaline involved, but even the bench is making some things happen. The real test for this team is the dog days of January and February, but for now the PGA, GPA, Big 3 or whatever you want to call them is looking goooooood!

They really shoved it down our throats, but KG is a true team player. I like all 3 but this is Pierce's team for now and it makes sense to defer to him from the get go.

Gilbert's blog and Stuart Scott

Not sure if you watched the half time show, but when Stuart Scott was mentioning Arenas's comments in his blog, it was almost like he was dismayed to use the word blog...Weird stuff.

Defense

The offense is there, but the defense has looked really impressive so far. Creating turnovers and turning them into points. And it's coming from everybody.

Yeah I headed out to catch the game with a friend from the second quarter on. We ended up watching Tommy. Perhaps even funnier than Stuart Scott's disdain for the word was listening to Heinsohn talk about something he clearly did not understand. Did that stop him from mocking it? Hell no. He even claimed that Brandon Haywood will get his own blog soon and it will outperform Arenas'. I'd love to know exactly what Tommy thinks a blog is.

How about the Gilbert chants at the end? Fantastic.

I can't even begin to imagine what Tommy thinks a blog is...Of course he may not know what the Internet is, so that would need to be his first step.

It was a fun game to watch and when it got to within 15 towards the end, it was good to see GPA (I think I like that one for now) go out there and put their foot to the throat of the Wizards.
