It's official

Kevin Durant took the leap today and announced he will enter the NBA draft. This does not come as much of a surprise. The money is too much to turn down. I would never feel bad for a guy in his situation. Yet I look at my massive student loans and don't regret my four years in college. Granted no one was going to pay me millions until of course SBN came calling. But it seems like Durant wanted to do at least 2 years. He's going to miss Austin next year. In closing check out his stats. They are even better than I remember:

"The Big 12 player and freshman of the year, he averaged 25.8 points and 11.1 rebounds -- one of three players in the country to average more than 20 points and 10 rebounds.

He shot 47 percent from the field, 40 percent from 3-point range and 82 percent from the foul line. He led the Longhorns in steals and blocked shots and scored at least 30 points a Big 12-record 11 times."

Between Durant and Oden...
...who would the Celtics pick if they had the choice?

I'm not a big fan of Ainge, so I should also ask who should the C's pick of the two, given the option?

And who's the third choice if the C's lose out in the lottery?

Tough choice
It's hard to say. Chad Ford recently reported that Ainge is one of the few guys that would take Durant first. But rumors are surfacing that if they get the top pick they will trade Al Jefferson for a veteran. At that point they have to take Oden. As it is size is an issue - Olowokandi is not in the plan, Ratliff may never play again, and after Perk and Al there is just Scal. If they don't fall in the top 2 they should probably just trade it if they want to win now. Or maybe they start to think about trading Pierce. In the end I'd love to see them get Oden because his defense will translate immediately and he'll learn from Clifford Ray.
Celtics '08 or bust. Are you on the bandwagon?
