No Garnett

ESPN.com is reporting that Kevin Garnett's agent, Andy Miller, has made it known that the Big Ticket has no interest in joining Paul Pierce in Boston. I was torn on the deal anyways and appreciate the fact that Garnett pulled no punches about how he would approach such a move. Two words: opt out. So that happened. Next!

Thank goodness!
I'd love to see KG in a green uniform, but why would you give away Jefferson, who will be better than Garnett in just another year or two?

I can see that
I don't want to lose Jefferson. I feel strongly about that. But I can see how in a star league people get seduced by Garnett. And he plays defense like Big Al never will. I would love to see Ainge build a team where guys have roles and the sum of the parts is greater. Something like what Joe Dumars put together.

Relief?
When the rumors were flying about KG I was certainly intrigued and it's mildly seductive to pair KG and Pierce.  With the weakness of the East, the Celtics would become one of the top 4 or 5 teams.  And certainly the team would sell a crapload of tickets and merchandise.

HOWEVER, a big part of me was quite relieved that the deal didn't work out.  The potential greatness of Big Al is something I'd love to see play out in the green.  Maybe we can work out a deal for Marion and combine him with Pierce and Jefferson.  How impressive would that be in the East?

Relief
I had thought that Marion also said he wanted no part of the C's. But I can't find that anywhere. At the very least Ainge has to explore it. Putting him on the squad would force Doc to run. I would be a little concerned about a Pierce/Marion power struggle for top dog status but would not kill the deal for that alone.

Marion against Boston
I'm listening to Bill Simmons's podcast with Ric Bucher from earlier this week and Bucher is saying Marion has been adamant about not going to Boston.  Hadn't heard that specifically, but I'd take Bucher at his word on that.

Stay pat...
...on the trade front unless it brings in Lewis for change. I am beggining to fall in love with Jeff Green, NBA draft net compares him to Lamar Odom, whom I have had a man crush on since his URI days. Of course this is the same webiste that compared Josh McRoberts to Chris Webber so they may not be credible.

Odom
Love for Odom since his URI days?  I grew up in Las Vegas and have had the love since he was first accused of cheating on his ACTs at UNLV!

I like Green
But he worries me. I wonder if he's a college guy who does several things well but not anything great.
