Boston Celtics vs. Washington Wizards: 1/12/08 - Quick Recap

I got in late last night and actually missed the game. I have it on DVR and hope to watch it at some point today. However, by all accounts it seems like it was a disappointing loss. Rajon Rondo's absence and the resulting point guard play will only make the calls for an experienced back up point (sorry Eddie House) louder. Meanwhile, I'm more worried about the rebounding. The Wizards had a 49-30 edge. 49-30! Those are stupid numbers. But the bigger question revolves around what is next for the Celtics. Not game wise. Obviously the Wizards come to Boston on Monday. I mean big picture. This Celtics team came out of the gates with an edge. Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Doc Rivers all had something to prove for being portrayed as losers in recent years. Yet ,as everyone knows, it is a long season and it is nearly impossible to keep up that intense style of play over a prolonged period of time. That's a reality of the NBA. And to top it off the Detroit Pistons are the only other team with a single digit in the loss column. That's really good. I don't want to say wake me in April. But the Celtics have to get their healthy. Tony Allen, Glen Davis, Kendrick Perkins and Rajon Rondo have to continually improve. And Danny Ainge may have to make an addition or two. Regardless, I envision it being one hell of a ride.
