Awwww. Poor Bill Simmons. He gets to be paid to write about sports, something most of us do for free every day (message boards, blogs, etc.) and he's going to whine about not getting credit for breaking the Gary Payton trade. Cry me a river Bill. Besides, I broke the story 2 days before you (courtesy of some guy on a message board) and nobody cared about that either. Its a tough job, but someone's gotta do it, right?
All this is said tongue firmly planted in cheek, since I love Bill's writing and I could care less about who breaks what story first. I think the difference between him and me is that I can post rumors like a wannabe Peter Vescey and it doesn't matter. Bill ran up against something called "journalist integrity" and it hurt. Luckily people like me, Chad Ford, Sam Smith, and others don't have to worry about that kind of stuff. Long live rumors!
Update: Now I'm being mocked by Mrs. Jeff for spelling "tongue" incorrect (now fixed); for some reason I always spell it "tounge". Also, I must give credit to her for the "cry me a river" phrase, but to be fair, she stole it from Justin Timberlake.
