Pierce Improving But Still Out

Mark Murphy reports:

Pierce, suffering from a stress reaction that has confined him to a therapeutic boot for the last two weeks, had his foot examined by Dr. Brian McKeon yesterday. The Celtics team physician decided that Pierce needs another week before the boot is removed.
The team has also set up a vague target date of around Jan. 19 for Pierce’s return, according to coach Doc Rivers, though it could be pushed back.
“That’s the earliest,” Rivers said of a date that features a home game against Sacramento, followed the next night by a road game in Washington. “It could be longer than we anticipate. That is not a guaranteed date.”
