Boston Celtics/New York Knicks: 10/17/07 - Recap

I watched the game late last night and had to check my enthusiasm because it did not count in the standings. Here are some quick thoughts:

Celtics Notes

Scot Pollard in street clothes. Weird? That reminds me of a reader's e-mail. Take it away Roger,

"I can't believe Doc already made a stupid move! Maybe if Pollard had been healthy, the coaches would have seen that Batista is better than Pollard. Maybe they believe "Big Baby" is going to be able to contribute as backup center... he definitely has talent."

I'm not sure I agree with Glen Davis as a center. He is undersized and raw and the NBA is a physical league. But I am incredibly pessimistic about what Pollard is going to bring to the team. And yes that was one of my first ever reader e-mails. Roger could have said Green Bandwagon makes him regret life and reads at fourth grade level and I would have run with it. Big day.

For all the talk about Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen, Rajon Rondo and Garnett could do some great things this year. Rondo's instincts are a lot better than people realize. Just disregard the two fouls in the first four minutes.

Doesn't Eddie House just seem like the type of guy that could roll out of bed and hit a jumper? I'm not saying he doesn't work at it. He's just a scorer.

We saw how Jason Kidd inflated the values of Kerry Kittles, Richard Jefferson, Kenyon Martin and everyone else. Doesn't it stand to reason that House, Rondo, Kendrick Perkins and James Posey will look good with Allen, Pierce and Garnett?

Does Pierce look energized or is it just me?

Knicks Notes

I've said it before and I'll say it again. There is absolutely no way that Eddy Curry and Zach Randolph weigh a combined 545 pounds.

If I were a Knicks fan Curry would make me very, very angry. He could be so good.

At 5:16 in the first quarter the Knicks got hit with a three seconds call. That might happen a lot this year.

Tommy Heinsohn

Tommy Heinsohn, more than anyone else that I can think of, loves the term quick forward.

"You gotta love EDDIE HOUSE! He's not a cottage. He's a HOUSE!" - Heinsohn. Good to see him bring his A game to the pre season.

Should we tell Tommy that Yugoslavia no longer exists?
