In the pregame press conference Doc Rivers announced that Glen Davis would make his first NBA start tonight. When asked of Davis' response to being inserted into the line-up Doc said, "he looked around and figured who else." Big Baby is coming off an 8 point, 12 rebound performance on Sunday against the Bulls in just over 26 minutes. Davis gets the nod in the place of Kendrick Perkins who, with one of the most bizarre stories in recent memory, was unable to put weight on his big toe today (edit: in warm-ups, he's walking fine). His status for Friday's game is uncertain. Scot Pollard continues to struggle with back spasms and was unavailable to play.
Doc was asked before the game if he could recollect any similarly bizarre injuries and recalled a time when one player missed time related to a pedicure gone wrong. Apparently said player suffered an infection in a toe that held him out of at least one game. One wonders if that player was ever able to live that down.
Enjoy the game tonight. Davis' infectious energy should help to ward off the possibility of a let down game against the injury depleted Kings.
